Ringgit steadies as central bank holds overnight policy rate at 3.00pc
Policymakers cited contained core inflation and steady external demand in a unanimous decision.

KUALA LUMPUR — The central bank held its overnight policy rate at 3.00 per cent, saying core inflation remains contained and external demand steady, a decision that steadied the ringgit through the afternoon session.
The accompanying statement removed a reference to "further assessment" that had appeared in the previous two decisions, which economists read as a signal that the tightening cycle has ended.

Attention now turns to the Budget, where the subsidy framework approved this week is expected to shape the inflation outlook for the first half of next year.
