Sourcing and verification
- Factual claims are confirmed with at least two independent sources, or one primary document we have seen in full.
- Anonymous sourcing is a last resort, approved by an editor, and always explained to readers.
- Where a document exists, we publish or link it in the Document Library.
Fairness and right of reply
Anyone facing significant criticism is given a fair opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is carried in the story. If a response arrives after publication, we update the story and note the update.
Independence
Advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners have no sight of or influence over editorial content. Any sponsored material is visibly labelled and never presented as reporting. Journalists declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from affected coverage.
News, analysis and opinion
Every page is labelled by type. News reports facts. Analysis interprets them and carries the writer's name and expertise. Opinion is clearly badged and represents the author, not RNN.
